Gulf Rubber, under Rahang Rubber Industries has started its operation in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah since 2006. There are 2 companies, namely Gulf Rubber Suntex Sdn Bhd, which operates as the marketing arm and Gulf Rubber (M) Sdn Bhd, which manufactures retread tyres.

With a total workforce of 25 employees (including marketing and management staff), it mainly focus on retread tyre with precured process. Currently, it is sourcing the casing for retread from local as well as import. Gulf Rubber also import casing for retread, which is being sold to customer. This imported casing is mainly sourced from Japan.

For distribution of goods, a lorry is designated for collection and deliveries within Kota Kinabalu. However, for distant customers, Gulf Rubber engaged a transporter for the means of tyres collection and deliveries. This in turn will expand the market distribution of Gulf Rubber’s products within Sabah.

As Gulf Rubber is being established for only a year, progressive improvement plans are being identified and implemented stage by stage to further enhance its operation. One of the plans is to install and implement computerized system as it is utilizing manual system.

With this system, the management hopes that it would increase efficiency and productivity. Our Rubber Division accounting system, FACT, is also being installed at Gulf Rubber. A brief training is conducted for the respective personnel to familiarize with the system and documentation.

Currently, Gulf Rubber is capitalizing on the new computerized system to monitor the flow of tyre, stock control, issuance of delivery order and invoice.
